Who We Are
The Silver Key Coalition is a statewide partnership of individuals, organizations, and advocates committed to ensuring that older adults and adults with disabilities can live safely and independently in their own homes for as long as possible.
We believe that the ability to remain at home is central to dignity, autonomy, and quality of life. Having a “key” to one’s home represents stability, independence, and connection to community. The Coalition works to protect and strengthen state-funded in-home services that make aging in place possible for thousands of Michigan residents.
Silver Key Coalition advocates specifically for increased and sustained investment in in-home services administered through Michigan’s Bureau of Aging, Community Living, and Supports (ACLS), recognizing these services as essential infrastructure for healthy aging and disability support.
Our Goal
The Silver Key Coalition’s goal is to make Michigan a “No Wait State” for in-home services.
We seek to eliminate underserving and waitlists by fully addressing unmet need through increased state funding for ACLS in-home services. By strengthening these community-based supports, Michigan can better support older adults, adults with disabilities, and family caregivers—while also preventing more costly institutional care.
Our work is grounded in the understanding that investing in in-home services improves health outcomes, supports family caregivers, and ensures that individuals can remain connected to their homes and communities.
